What does their recent work look like?

Actual examples of work arguably matter more than a showreel. Who was the client? Does the company work directly for the client or is it subcontracted work? What does the work look like?

Testimonials/References

Have clients provided testimonials? Are they reputable long-established companies?

Can they help?

Sometimes companies from the other side of the country can use customised landing pages to pretend they work locally to you. You may even receive emails or phone calls saying a company is working in your area on a given day and would you like a video. This is no good for a long-term relationship with a production company. Come the second video you may find extra travel costs may be bundled in to your production costs.
